After seeing The Grudge 3 that made me paranoid at night, here came Insidious to add on my pre-bedtime mental illness. I watched the movie out of plan; I was actually going home but getting stuck on waiting for buses made me decide to rather give way to the rush hour. Watching a movie costing P25 would be perfect to burn the rush hour than wishing the impossible for the queue at the bus terminal to cut fast or to wait for a good bus which might definitely stuck on the traffic jam before it would reach me. Good thing, my two classmates were at the mall at that time. So, they catered me company.
Insidious is one horror movie that sounded new to me. It was actually first mentioned by another classmate that afternoon. What I liked about it is its audio―the bass is insane; it reaches and intensifies the adrenaline of us viewers. The story twists around the concept of “astral projection”. I never watched a movie with the same theme so I guess, this movie has a good story to brag. Scenes are extremely horrifying that make the viewers scream in surprise including me―The Grudge 3 never gave me that. Among those sick scenes, my favorite which really freaked the hell out of me is when Loraine suddenly caught the demon right behind the very left shoulder of her son. Wow, that almost made me jump off my seat! On the other hand, what turned me off is the encounter scene between Josh and the demon. It spoils the ghostly atmosphere. I never expect to see a concrete, actual body of a red demon fighting with the astral projecting soul of Josh. Nevertheless, the movie is ideal for horror movie-goers like me. I hope I can still sleep after writing this blog ‘cause I’m getting the paranoia again!
